- Um, why are you getting angry here? This guy just responded with some
- opinons and comments and tryed to piint out some things to you that he
- thought you might like to know in case you didn't already - it doesn't
- appear as though he was trying to put you down.
-
- I'm not a computer technician, but I can vouch for what he said about
- LAP-M stripping the start/stop bits and therby improving the transmission
- speed. I could really try and find some hardback reference for you if
- you really want it, but just about anybody who has had a cursory glance
- of the features of LAP-M and some MNP protocols could confirm this for
- you. I learned this myself in 1989 when looking for a 14.4 modem to
- replace my poor 1200 bps model. This feature is also a part of MNP 4 and
- all MNPs afterwards. Set your modem to MNP 4 and you'll see for yourself.
-
- As for his comment about Quicklink II, he was just making an offhand
- comment about the program, not saying it affected the test results; in
- any case, you made the mention of the program in your test results, which
- appears to mean that mentioning it was significant, wether to performance
- or whatevr else.
-
- Were you nervous about putting up your test results because you were
- afraid you'd get flamed by techie types? If you were, I can understand
- because I would be nervous about putting up such a thing too in this
- group. Stay cool next time and re-read the reponses before you fly off
- the handle at them.
-
- I also very much appreciated your testing and posting.
